Wikipedia states;“In 2012 the Australian Council of Social Services conducted a study that shows that in 2010, after taking into account housing costs, an estimated 2,265,000 people or 12.8% of all people including 575,000 children (17.3% of all children) lived in households below the most austere poverty line widely used in international research.”

It is estimated that around 105,000 people per night in Australia will be homeless. This figure equates to 1 in 200 Australians. These are disturbing statistics that highlight the importance of government assistance as well as non-government aid agencies.

Loaves an fishes Street Meet Care Service help South East Qld families with in excess of 800 food parcels per month and this number is growing as more and more families are seeking our services.

Our street vans are feeding the homeless of Brisbane around 2000 hot meals every month thanks to our wonderful donors and volunteers. As well as helping people on a one on one basis, we currently distribute over 30 tons of goods to charities and aid organisations that help the destitute and suffering families of Australia.
